Survivor Live with Kathy

Survivor Live, the Internet Talk Show
Guest: Kathy (by phone) from Survivor Marquesas & All-Star Survivor
Hosts: Chris Booker & Richard Hatch, winner first Survivor

Usually on the Friday Survivor Live the guest is the Castaway that was voted off the night before, which in this case would be Brady. However, according to Booker and Hatch, his employer prefers that he not be in the public eye. Also they said that this goes for all media and Survivor Live is not being singled out. Brady's occupation at CBS.com is listed as FBI Agent/Ex-military.

As a consequence of Brady's absence, today's show was as boring and uninformative as Thursday shows often are. Unless I really like the guest it's difficult for me to get into the show. I don't care for Kathy so today's show was a disappointment for me. (I do like Shii Ann but was also disappointed that yesterday's show was cut to thirty minutes - woe is me.)

Technical Note: today's show was back to the choppy video, but the sound was fine thru-out the broadcast.

Comments made by Richard Hatch
Sarge showed how big his ego is when after losing the puzzle immunity challenge he said 'I knew how to do it but Rory was the eyes'. Sarge won't last long. Rory has lightened up as evidenced by his complimenting the women after they won a challenge. Ami is playing well (calm and understated). Bubba is playing awfully bad. It was way too early to cry about being homesick.

Comments made by Kathy
Kathy agrees that Ami is playing well, but disagrees with Richard about Bubba. She thinks he's playing well.

Comments made by Callers
Several callers think that Chris is the real mastermind of Fat Force Five. Hatch found that to be laughable (so do I).

Episode 4, No Brady in this Bunch

The bickering uncooperative men lost both challenges and sent Brady packing despite his fishing skills which he thought might save him.

Reward Challenge
Husker Du, do you remember?
The women really kicked the men's collective butt in this memory reward challenge. The men played foolishly. If you don't remember where a match is then don't reveal a new object to the women. Stupid, stupid stupid! Twice the women were all over the men's mistakes, like white on rice.

Immunity Challenge
Tile Me Up, Tile Me Down
The men were going in a dozen different directions to their detriment. No one listened to Rory who was supposed to be their 'eyes'. It was a total mess. On the other hand, the women worked the problem out logically and then cooperated to get'er done. Eliza was the 'eyes' for the women (and she has nice eyes too).

Tribal Council
(paraphrased)
Jeff: Rory you seem to have zero respect, you've gotten votes every TC and no one listened to you during the immunity challenge. Are you worried?
Rory: I'm scared as hell.
Jeff: The momentum seems to have shifted to the women. Bubba, do any of you sense it too?
Bubba: We sure do, the women kicked us in the groin today.
Jeff: Brady did the guys start playing individually too soon?
Brady: Basically yes, from the get-go.
Chris: We don't know how the women are playing!
Jeff: Does it matter if they merge with numbers against the you? They'll just pick you off one-by-one!

Jeff seemed to do his best to get the men to play better as a team. I wonder if it will help any?

Alliances
Obviously the Fat Five are a force to be reckoned with in the men's tribe. OK it's really only a problem for John K., who's the last young buck left. After he's out of the way, the Fat Five can turn on each other. The women seemed worried about what Eliza is doing but winning immunity has bought her some time.

Heroes & Villains
At this point, I really can't say I like any of the men. That orange Bob Barker t-shirt of Bubba's has got to go. Chad is so boring that if it weren't for his prosthetic leg I wouldn't be able to recognize him. Sarge bugs me the most. He said that he learned that when you "go to war" you "take your strongest warriors". This isn't some great insight, but he thought it was. "No warrior scholar is he", Yoda.

My two favorite women are Eliza and Ami (what is that tattoo on her lower back?). Twila annoys me. I wish she weren't around.

Bubba Quote
"The women kicked us in the groin today."
Not one of Travis' better sayings, but it will do.

Official Episode Title: Now That's a Reward

Won Immunity: Yasur Tribe (color yellow, gender female)

Won Reward: Yasur Tribe (color yellow, gender female)
They won the services for one day of Dah, an island native, who showed them that food is everywhere. Leaves, roots and sugar cane. Oh my!

Voted Off: Brady
Only one vote for Rory.

Survivor Live with Shii Ann

Survivor Live, the Internet Talk Show
Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004
Guest: Shii Ann from Survivor Thailand & All-Star Survivor
Hosts: Chris Booker & Richard Hatch, winner first Survivor

The show started about thirty minutes late (for technical reasons?) but still ended at 3:00 pm. So this was an abbreviated thirty minute show. Initially the sound was awful but when they straightened everything out, in addition to fixing the sound, the picture was clearer than in past shows.

Comments made by Richard Hatch
The non-merger twist on Survivor Thailand that Shii Ann fell for was one of the biggest in all of the Survivor seasons. Also he said of Shii Ann: "This chick can eat!". Bugs and entrails don't bother her. Also she eats constantly. Finally he's still getting to know the current Castaways and it's too early to predict who will win.

Comments made by Shii Ann
Shii Ann likes Twila but doesn't think that she's playing well. On Survivor Thailand the Castaways picked their own tribes and she didn't like her tribe (she fell into the young tribe). She basically said that they were idiots (she usually hangs out with "people who read") and she was a target all along. Despite messing up the non-merge twist, she's proud about how long she lasted on Survivor Thailand. On All-Star Survivor her strategy was to wait and see what happened (aka "Fly Under the Radar"). A caller asked "Why don't they practice making fire before going on Survivor?" Shii Ann responded that people do, however it's much more humid and damp so it's harder on the tropical islands where they play Survivor. Shii Ann said that she's currently working in the real estate business in New York City. Her picks to do well: Scout and Chad. Not playing well: Eliza and Rory.

Caller Comment
A caller said that he remembered that in the very first Episode Jeff said something like: "These will be your tribes for the duration of Survivor Vanuatu." This would imply that there won't be a merge! I doubt this is the case and Richard Hatch was also skeptical.
